What redblood asked. Shooting at squirrels in hardwoods requires a different zero than shooting at crows in a pasture

What would be the best distance to set the scope on a 22 Mag.? Will be shooting Hornady 30 grain V-max.

what are you hunting?

Nothing in particular. I bought the gun from a friend of mine about a year ago and haven't shot it but once or twice. I was just going to get it out and see how accurate it would be.

Get on a ballistic calculator website and find out the point blank range for whatever target size you want. You will need to know the muzzle velocity and the ballistic coefficient of the bullet.

By target size I mean how far above and bellow line of sight you want to stay. For example, if you want to keep your bullet within a 4" circle (plus or minus 2 inches) enter that into the program. It will tell you what range to zero at, and how far away you can hold in the center and still not fall more than two inches bellow point of aim.
