I would suggest setting several smaller goals. It is easier to focus without getting discouraged and you are good to go if you beat a goal. I only worked on four pounds at a time. If you set the bar too high, you are more likely to give up when you miss it or have a set back. I'm rooting for you. Take your time.
My original goal was to be 30 lbs lighter in a 2 year period. I beat that and took of 12 more the next year just to see if I could. 5-10 more and I will be at wedding weight.

Did you have to tell them about the rabbit hunt :) start drinking only water, oatmeal for breakfast, tuna fish for lunch, and salads with grilled chicken for dinner with lite dressing. Limit your servings and don't eat after 6. Circuit training and spin class are you're new friends!

Good plan! Combine that with Insanity or P90X and the weight will run off quick! I've done it - 280 to 189... I'm back at about 217 now since the stupid Honda rollover but am back P90x'in (but without their diet plan) and I plan on being back at 188 mid summer

I'd have to use some variety of vinegar on a salad. Would hate to have it without some form of dressing.

It's great that you have that solid deadline as motivation. Looking forward to hearing of your progress.

My own deadline is May 23rd when we go on our anniversary cruise, but mostly I'm just trying to make room for all that cruise food.

It is hard to stay on track with no goal or motivation. I was at 260 last Jan, I got down to 189 last fall. Then hunting season and cold weather got here and I slacked off and got back up to 220. I am back down to 208 but it is hard to stay on track with this cold weather and no goal really.

I plan on being back down to 180 to 190 by summer time. I really just wished I have a work out partner to help push me and give me some motivation.

Good luck Eric. I am the classic, Take it off... put it back on guy. Sounds like there are a lot of us here.

Insanity works for me. I am currently (for the past 4 weeks) doing Insanity 3 mornings per week and a Circuit Training class one evening per week. Eating good everyday.

Over the past 4 weeks I am down 19 pounds, 276 to 257 pounds.

Like others say, the Kitchen is where Fat is lost. Exercise just makes us fit. Do both and you will become a Super Fit Looking Famous Poacher". :D :D ;)

I bought an elliptical ($124 shipping straight to my house from Walmart, just a cheap model w/o a seat). I started using it March 1st. Starting out at only 10 minutes per day, until I was able to work up to 30 minutes, then 45-50 minutes. Plus diet, with the help of logging everything I eat and drink - mostly only drink water now - on My Fitness Pal and I am now down 13 pounds. I don't have a set time frame goal to lose the weight, just trying to get down to at least 115 pounds in the future. To successfully lose weight and keep it off, it takes time. I'm sure most of what I've lost is just water weight, but that's a start, however I think I lost those 13 pounds a bit too quick, but seeing the lower numbers on the scale is a definite motivator!!

Good luck Eric and all the others trying to lose weight. I started at 316 pounds and have lost down to 246 so far. My goal is to get down to 190. After losing 70 pounds I have come off diabetes medicine and high blood pressure medicine and feel so much better! I eat mainly protein and keep my calories under 1000 per day.
