My vote is for the Smith. Many people claim Rugers are built tougher but I have owned Smiths since the 1970's and never shot one "loose" yet. For trigger pulls the Smith beats the Ruger hands down every time.
I grew up as a serious lover of Ruger firearms but they can't hold a candle to the build quality of S&W.
