Recently acquired one , its a PPK no S . 5.62 , looking at a couple sites I see prices from abt 400 to $3000.
I see one states "1966" . Question is , how do you know mfg date ? This one was supposed to have been taken off a German officer during the war . Any way to tell ? Thanks in advance for any help .

Question….. is that a " plastic " grip? Dang Germans ahead of the US in 1940. Could be wrong but name a WWII US made weapon with a plastic handle or stock?

1903 Colt among others. Plenty of 1911's used in the war.
But I wouldn't call Celluloid, Rubber or plastic grips "ahead" of anyone. But that's just me. I'm one of those polished blue and walnut guys. ;)

WWII 1911's had a plastic grip? I've only seen wood but I'm no expert.

JUSTbecause the Krauts had us beat in rockets other technologies but thankfully not plutonium enrichment

You have a very nice PPK there. Nice snag. I am sure you know this but do not store that in the holster.

My dads brother served in Germany during WW2 and brought home lots of flags, knives and such which I inherited along with some stories about how they took it from dead soldiers and off of building in town and such. Adds nothing to the value as there are no letters of authenticity to back it up. I would imagine your PPK is in the same boat .

With that said my son does the gun shows almost every weekend and said he has seen some softening of the military collections as of the last couple of years. He is big into the Military Bolt Guns and Semi Autos and has been able to pick up some for much less than before because it seems these kids are inheriting them from their dads collections and not caring anything about them and selling them off. Also alot of these old timers with these huge collections are dying off and those huge collections are hitting the open market through auctions and such.
