I just got a Cabelas sales notification, Vortex Diamond 3.5-10x50for 149.99 or a Leupold American Marksman 3-9x40 same price. Which would you recommend? Any experience with Vortex?

I would go with the vortex. my older eyes really like the fast Focus. I've got three or four of the Vortex scopes on different rifles and I haven't had to reset any of them. they are really clear. I never have been able to adjust Leupold to suit my eyes

I would opt for Vortex, however at that price, I would consider the Crossfire II. The diamondback is a great scope but the eye relief on the original diamondbacks is not that great. The Crossfire II has very good glass and better eye relief.

With a warranty that doesn't cover accidental damage.

And a lot of there stuff, lower end scopes, are not made in America

Which is normally better crossfire or diamondback?

Crossfire II and the original Diamondback are pretty similar but the Crossfire has better eye relief. The DIamondback HP is a really nice step up and has similar/same glass as the original Vipers. HP also has much improved eye relief.
