Went down to Venice this week for a lil offshore fishing. First day we ran deep in search of yellowfin, we ended up with 2 small ones in the 30lb range we didn't have live bait which hurt our chances. Second day we went for swordfish and hooked into one but pulled the hook after 20 minutes so we decided to deep drop for tile fish which we got 2. Third day we targeted mangrove snapper and put 12 in the boat. We decided to bottom fish for a for grouper for giggles. My son hooked into the biggest fricken red snapper I've ever seen. (He had fun bringing it up 330 foot as well lol).
It weighted right at 40lbs. He was truly fired up. (My son is 6'5" and 275 for size reference) Unfortunately we caught on a Thursday and season only open Friday-Sunday so we had to release him.
It was a great trip with my youngest.
