So, our garden got wrecked by squirrels last year. Not one to go without revenge, my 7 yr old and I ordered a .177 Hatsan 95 air rifle. It's WAY more rifle than the Crosmans I fooled with as a kid.
It arrived last week, we mounted a scope on it, got it zeroed, and then (unfortunately/fortunately) we both got super sick and both of us had to stay home from work/school almost all week. (Not COVID or flu, but some nasty virus that set us both down pretty badly).
I say fortunately, because we managed to snag 17 grays out of the guest room window this week. Finally feeling a little better today, we stripped all the meat we could off of them and mixed up several pounds of squirrel breakfast sausage and it's AWESOME!
I hate that I got to enjoy growing up in a super rural area outside of Hot Springs, AR getting to hunt, shoot, and fish basically whenever I wanted and that he is growing up IN Memphis proper, but I'm ecstatic that he can now do this, too. Obviously, we prefer to go chase them in the woods with .22's and his 410, but it was a cool way to make an otherwise awful week a bit more bearable.
