If the truth be known, most Americans are probably all gung-ho about "the sound of freedom;" until it's in their back yard.

"Anyone who has served in our armed forces and encountered a difficult mission will tell you that when bullets fly, systems fail or other general chaos ensues, it's the warrior's training that enables them to overcome all impediments to get the job done. There is no substitute for tough, realistic training and testing to prepare our forces for the challenges they will face in the future.

While the defense industry is ramping up our capabilities to prevail in large scale combat operations against peer and near-peer threats, many of the facilities vital to training and testing are in an encroachment chokehold from nearby development....."

I'll admit to being totally dense on this occasion and am asking if you would care to elaborate just a bit.
Just having fun. Navy is #1 and doesn't need urban area, and Ballistic subs being our #1 line of defense, also not impacted by urban sprawl. But yeah, since the Marines are part of the Navy, they are impacted by urban area.

A bigger problem I see is foreigners, and foreign governments owning property here and monitoring our military bases more easily. But Congress doesn't see it that way.

Remember the dude Guitierez in Puerto Rico mad about the Navy bombing range a few years back?
Go Navy!
We don’t need no stinking urban sprawl!

My son currently serving will be heartbroken.
But he still serves to protect ALL.
Even the ungrateful.
I'm jumping in here. But I've seen his (unpopular) sentiment in a few places after 1/7. It started when more than a few Guardsmen who were tasked with protecting the Capitol, bragged on social media about having live ammo. I don't think the kids making these kinda posts really thought things through (or maybe they knew exactly) but it meant they would, or could, be firing on their fellow Americans. It wasn't a good look, and it created a lot of hard feelings.

I promise the ranges were there before those houses were built.

Jump on in.
But I commented more on this statement:
“This military, and all currently in it”
My sons included.
My boy believes in what he’s doin, politics aside or the actions of others.

Houses closer than mine to the target zone / impact zone do not / cannot have drywall. I agree the development around our bases needs to be stopped. I am so comfortable with the exposure we get I miss it when they take a break.
Let me tell you about a rush so very few get to live to tell about. Operating an open cab dozer directly in line with a warthogg on an attack run less than a mile from the target range. If that dont get your heart rate up you aint alive. on the other note I our warriors have my total support and confidence! The leadership not so much. I certainly dont see anyone else stepping up and the way things are shaping up its time we all prepare.
I have no time for anyone not behind our warriors

I wouldn't mind counties establishing minimum acreage requirements for county building permits. That would slow the sprawl a little. Maybe minimum setback requirements of 500' or so for all structures. The flip side is that this would totally violate my libertarian beliefs. Most cities have large sections that need razed and re-purposed.

No offense, but my statement was not directed at some brainwashed, faggot a## capital guardsman, threatning to fire upon unarmed patriots, rather it was directed at our current military's lack of resolve in dealing with the treasonous coup that installed this puppet administration ;)

No offense taken. Thanks for clearing up your position. I made the assumption after you referenced 1/7
