Just remember buckwheat is a 10-12 week crop, germination to death. However, it can reseed itself.
I always plant buckwheat in my fall plantings, but not at full seeding rate. I generally plant about 20 lbs/acre in a fall mixture. At that rate, it grows well but won't shade out other crops.
