TWRA trout stocking question

I was looking at the coldwater trout stocking dates that TWRA has listed for this year. Each body of water only has one date listed. Does that actually mean each body of water listed only gets one shot a year? Doesn't seem right to me. I'm just looking at coldwater, not the seasonal stockings in typically warm waters.

Any info would be appreciated. The picture attached is from the table I'm referring to.

Anyone have any advice on fishing these "stockings"? Is it better to fish them that day? Day after? Week after?

I have heard of people catching them literally minutes after they are put in.
I have done that on the Caney but not on the lakes.

Normally I wait about a week then go.

Best tip I got was to use flurocarbon line.
Made a huge difference for me.
I could catch a limit (sometimes) but it would take 2 to 3 hours.
Swapped to the flurocarbon and could get a limit in 30 to 45 minutes.

My go to bait is a 1/8 oz yellow roostertail.

Re: TWRA trout stocking question

I talked to one of my buddies who works for the TWRA at one of the hatcheries and is directly involved with this.

I thought it was odd that they stock trout in these places. I asked if trout can actually live through the summer in such warm water. He said the fish will be all caught out before then and any remaining ones won't make it through the summer.

I guess I didn't realize they did this.

I have always heard when the water hits about 70 degrees they all die.
I know at Martin I went there after it started getting warm to bass & bream fish and there were several dead trout washed up on the edge.
The turtles were enjoying them though. :D

Well I say several, best I remember I saw about 10 that day.
They sure make for some good grillin though (before they die) so I hope they keep doing it.
