He wanted to go Yakin' so we went to the best place I knew to get away from boats and catch a bunch of fish.

Overall I think we had around 80 yellow perch. Kept 25 and threw the rest back. Very fun day! I did break my St Croix panfish rod on a 2-3ish pound spotted bass. Broke it right above the lower guide.

Ha! Ain't no secrets anymore. Yesterday there were people from Washington state, Oregon, and Georgia that were fishing there. I had to unload kayaks and park a pretty good ways out at one of the campgrounds and walk back to the kayaks because of all the vehicles. I figured with the holiday weekend there would be more than usual but that's way more than usual.

Nice, interesting to see the difference in size between perch back home and what they look like out here. Google Lake Cascade Idaho perch. Y'all enjoying that sunshine and warm weather and I've got a winter storm warning through tomorrow 😂

Parksville has bigger perch in it than where we went but definitely not the sheer numbers of them. I don't know anywhere else locally you can take a kid and catch 100+ fish in just a few hours fishing. They might all be smaller but kids don't care. Heck, I'm 40 and still have fun doing that. Despite that, next time I go, I'm going to try for bigger fish and throw something besides live bait.

Yeah, my cousin catches a bunch up there at Parksville. Lot of cigar shaped ones but they get into some filleting sized quite often. Fun to catch and good eatin for sure.
