Watch out for any infection. I had a spine go through the web of my hand between thumb and forefinger. I washed it out good and put some neosporin on it and went on with life. It was sore. A couple of days later there were some red streaks on the hand and it was hot to the touch. A nurse friend told me to get my azz to the doc if I wanted a hand. The doctor told me I was on the verge of a lengthy stay in the hospital if I hadn't come that morning. An antibiotic shot and some pills got the problem solved fairly quickly.

That's gonna be sore for a few days. When a catfish gets a fin in a person some of the slime stays in the wound. If you can immediately squeeze that slime out it fairly amazing how quick the wound quits hurting and heals naturally.

I remember when I was around 13, I was trying to unhook a catfish. It struggled and sent its side-barb underneath my thumbnail, a little more than 1/2" deep.

That one stung a little!

Might ought to at least call your doctor . I really watch those cats even get laughed at but I'm extremely careful with them . Hope you'll be ok

Knew an old guy that lost nearly 1/3rd of his foot .. they were running trot lines. Tossing em in the boat floor. One got his foot - didn’t go to the Dr quick enough after infection set in.
