I've been offered a sales position at Alcoa Good Times selling four wheelers, UTVs, boats, jet skis well you name it really. I've never had any sales experience and I'm about to finish up my business degree next fall so I think this would be a good start for me. Curious to hear anyone else's retail stories. I'm nervous on a commission based job because I've always had an hourly wage and it's a little nerve wracking for me right now.

Similar to how I started out. I worked in Sears in Lawn & Garden selling tools and mowers. I did have a minimum wage base which helped, but I was a go getter and people got pissed because I got off my butt and helped people. Needless to say I made descent money 6+ years ago for a college kid. Over $10 an hour.
Since then after getting my business degree I worked my way up in sales and have my own business.... Good luck, hardwork pays off.

At a minimum, it can be spun as sales experience on a resume...that experience can be more important than the money at times, depending on your personal situation.

I have had a lot of different sales jobs and they can be both rewarding and frustrating. One thing that is so true now days is we all are on commission just some of us don't know it tell they are let go. Sales is a craft though some it comes naturally and some it never comes but there are the middle group that work at it and can be great. Also if you learn how to sell the product is not as important as your ability to listen.
