They were in it pretty good during deer season but man they hit it hard right before the snow till now. It was a mixture of Brassica, forage oats, and white clover.

Agreed! This plot was turnips, radishes, annual clover and cereal rye and was lush and full at seasons end.
yea, this one had turnips too and if you get out there and walk around that's what it looks like.View attachment 69674

I always try to get these in late august or september 1. Much later than that and they just dont perform. Especially the radishes and turnips. What time frame do you plant these late season plots?
We plant a lot of dikon radishes and they will eat those before the turnips which is good cause the radishes dont survive a hard freeze. My turnips got crushed before November. Glad the wheat and oats are starting to pop back up
Ours did the same until about mid-Jan / early Feb. Except for ours, the fields would be full of them, then be gone by the following week. That is interesting. Tried purple tops and several other types of brassicas mixes over the years and after first frost had deer eat just the greens for a few days then left them alone. Deer would walk through my plots to eat pasture grass. Turnips left to rot.
