The hunting forecast looks all time for Thanksgiving (18 deg in the morning with 4 mph S winds) so I am adjusting the menu and meal time to ensure I get enough time in the woods to hopefully kill some deer.

Here we go:

Roquefort Pear Salad
Haricot Verts with Shallots
Double Cream Corn
Garlic and cream smashed potatoes
Cornbread and Andoullie Dressing
Sweet Potato and Carrot Souffle with Candied Pecans
Cornbread
Gravy
Cranbery Sauce
17# heritage bird dressed out with the goods

Desert

Bourbon Pecan Pie
Pumpkin Pie
Coconut Cream Pie - my 96 year old grandma insisted on buying one from her favorite restaurant to have something to bring for the meal

Got 3 friends coming over to provide refreshment :)

This year's thanksgiving pour will be Knob Creek. It will be hard to stay off the Winkle, but that will be served around Christmas.

Place I had lunch at today had Lot 'B' Winkle, $40 for 2 oz.

Here you go: bourbon and orange pecan pie

1 homemade pie crust (this is a recipe that I would have to dig up from the archives but highly recommended that you make your crust from scratch)

1 cup corn syrup
3/4 cup light brown sugar
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3 large eggs
2 tablespoons bourbon
1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 cups pecan halves

Set oven rack in lowest the position and heat oven to 350
In large bowl whisk together the corn syrup, sugar, butter, eggs, bourbon, orange zest, and salt. Stir in the pecans.

Pour the pecan mixture into the crust and bake until the center is set, 50 to 55 minutes

Let cool to room temp

Literally too much to list. We had 49 people in attendance this year. Everyone brought sides, but the main dishes were Turkey(4 of them), Ham(X4) and a smoked deer hindquarter. Hayrides, live music, bb-gun target practice and hunting filled out our 4 day celebration. We killed a ton of deer too...I'll make a post on that in the general forum soon. Usually we call the Thanksgiving week/weekend celebration our "Hoedown"...this year it was the Thanksgiving deer-massacre.
