Son killed two does with a crossbow this morning on a draw hunt. One was at 20 yds and the other at 32 yds. He had another opportunity or two to punch his final tag but hard to do on the ground in close quarters.

The second one he killed just looked old to me by looking at her head so decided to pull her jawbone. She is ancient. I think 8.5+. Any thoughts on her age? The first one was 3.5.

I realized this afternoon that he's killed 4 deer this year and 3 with a crossbow.

Only way you'll get an accurate age is sending one if the front teeth in for cementum annuli. I've shot a couple like that over the years. One was sent to the lab it was an A specimen 17.5 years old!

I thought about doing that. Do you send the top or bottom front? I only saved the lower jaw bone but might could find the top if needed.

Never mind.........brain fart on that one. They only have bottom front.
