Moth balls didn't work for me. We rented a house for about 5 months and I killed 4 snakes inside in the downstairs. We moved!
bust my bubble... I'm gonna try it though.
Sorry bud. It's worth a try. I ain't so sure there wasn't a den near by. They was just lil ring neck snakes but it didn't sit well with my wife and having a newborn in the house. I couldn't tell you the number we seen outside!

Cats! I had snakes all around the house. Got three outside cats ( fix them or you'll have a lot more) and they have done a real good job of keeping them away. The also are serious mice and mole killers.

I had one in my cabin a couple years back laying outside the bathroom door when I came out... and that's how I learned to do the moon dance. Stik said to gently put it outside that they would take care of mice...so, as I was slamming at it with the shovel...

I have used the moth balls, just not inside the house, seemed to keep them away from the area anyway
is this house new to you,
if so and you just found the snakes and they keep coming back you may have a den inside the wall or under the house or something like that
from what i understand if its a den you gotta get rid of all evidence snakes have been there, but, I cant say for sure

Minnow traps with minnows for bait (dead or alive) work great, just keep the bait fresh.

X2. I've done it before and it works. If you want to get creative you can buy a live mouse at the pet store and wire it inside the trap.

Large glue traps also work.
