I live in an older house with a full basement, already done killed 3 snakes in the basement. Any way to drive them away? I'm afraid one will get into the house. Kinda scary..... Any advise?

2-1 for moth balls.... Looks like the mongoose is out. I really hope this works cause I DON'T like snakes.
Moth balls didn't work for me. We rented a house for about 5 months and I killed 4 snakes inside in the downstairs. We moved!

I would put the moth balls all the way around the house, and in the basement.

Minnow traps with minnows for bait (dead or alive) work great, just keep the bait fresh.
Cats! I had snakes all around the house. Got three outside cats ( fix them or you'll have a lot more) and they have done a real good job of keeping them away. The also are serious mice and mole killers.
Cats may help but I would rather just target practice with both of them.

I had one in my cabin a couple years back laying outside the bathroom door when I came out... and that's how I learned to do the moon dance. Stik said to gently put it outside that they would take care of mice...so, as I was slamming at it with the shovel...

I have used the moth balls, just not inside the house, seemed to keep them away from the area anyway
is this house new to you,
if so and you just found the snakes and they keep coming back you may have a den inside the wall or under the house or something like that
from what i understand if its a den you gotta get rid of all evidence snakes have been there, but, I cant say for sure
