Snakes first one of the year

my buddy found this big sucker while bush hogging a field next to his and our house today. I was out side working on a 1969 Chevy C10 and i heard him hollering for me so i went over to see what wrong and this is what i found.

Corn snakes are great and about the most docile snake I've come across in the wild.

Trust me it's as dead as dead gets LOL. i don't like a snake and never will let one live unless i know for sure it's a black snake.

have been known to stop and move snakes out of the road before somebody runs over it.

I saw the first snake several weeks ago. Slightly lethargic rat snake. Picked it up for a pic and let it go. No reason to kill unless its venomous and about to strike.

Me too unless its close to the house.Why would anyone would kill one out in the wild is beyond me.Unless its a serious threat.

Some things you need to be aware of:

1. All snakes are illegal to kill in the state of Tennessee. Don't care if you, your dad, or grandpa have been killing them for years. They are illegal to kill.

2. TWRA folks are frequent posters here. They monitor social media sites as well looking for folks that make their jobs easier; I.e. pics of poached deer or pics of fish over daily limits, or perhaps pics of dead snakes with accompanied war/hero story.

3. You just made their job easier.
