I built the garage myself in 2004, it had held up well until the last wind storm, lost enough shingles that the adjustor from farm bureau said it needed a new roof. Put about a lb shy of a 5 lb box of 2 1/2 inch screws in the 1x4's, attaching them to the trusses. Worked on this the past couple days, not as easy as the shed was, but did have some help from my wife.

Went with 40 year metal.

Almost finished up today, have one piece of ridge left to put on.

looks good but is there some kind of flashing that goes between the soffet and the metal edge? if not would a strong wind be able to lift that up?
On the gable ends, I put rake over those ends, there is no way wind can get under those edges. On the sides, I may get some trim to go under the metal and over the 1x's, but I am planning on putting gutters on the sides, so really wouldn't be necessary.

yeah i think those structures that i saw with metal roofs lifted up during the last storm didnt have that or have gutters.

The rake goes over the ends and is screwed in on top and on the sides. The metal can't really lift at that point. The sides where I will eventually put up gutters, the metal is screwed down into 1x4's close to the edge.

Before the last windstorm my shed didn't have rake on the sides, but it does now on the repaired section, and I bought enough to do the rest of it too.
