I need an inexpensive all around shotgun which will primarily be used for turkey hunting. I would like your suggestions on something inexpensive where I can change chokes. Thanks

Mossburg500 or a rem 870 either wont break the bank & will shoot 3" shells which have killed many a critter before a 3.5 was ever thought about.

Mossberg 500 if you want the very cheapest "good" quality shotgun that will do it all. The Remington 870 Express won't break the bank either and is definitely good quality.

If you want an all around shotgun, I would stay away from a 3.5" gun like an 835. They are capable of shooting bird loads, but aren't known for reliably cycling them.

Never seen a pump 3.5 have any issue with smaller shells.they wont hold as tite of a pattern with the lower shells though

870. Furthermore, if I could find a used one that was several years old in good condition that fit my needs (3", 3.5", etc), I would rather have it than a brand new one. I have two older 870s, one 12 years old and the other 20+ years old and they both have performed flawlessly over the years shooting light loads, slugs, heavy loads and turkey loads. I have no experience with the newer made 870s.

Going on 23 years with my 870. Can be used to turkey hunt, duck, squirrel, and even a boat paddle if necessary.
