I have a Mossberg 500 with screw in chokes, I am trying to get it to shoot fairly decent with slugs so my wife can hunt with me, first time she has shown an interest. With the improved choke in there is NO consistency to the shots and No accuracy. Can I shoot the old style ( Foster slugs ) thru a modified choke without damaging the gun?

NO. How ya been Ross? Has the Violin been put to good use or are you so sick of it you make your daughter go play for the neighbors. I have been out of pocket lately and haven't gotten on here in a while. Send me a PM

why dont you just order a rifled slug barrel for it? they are not that much.

Believe me, if the funds were there I would have already done that. "not that much" for some is quite a bit for others

sorry didnt know. if the foster slugs are undersized then a modified may give you better accuracy. but be sure they are undersized. if they are newer oversized types then i personally wouldnt try it, but rather try a cylinder choke.
good luck
