SHOT show ML stuff

I may not have seen all the ML stuff at the SHOT show, but here's what I did see.
Hodgdon - new StarFire pellet. They stated better ignition and slight more velocity.



Nothing new or change from Western.

A new 28" barrel on 1 model (I don't recall which one) that they referenced as LR.

Knight was not there.
Remington had nothing new.

T/C has 3 new camo patterns.


T/C has a new RamRod with a long extension. Looked very similar to Knights design, but longer.

Traditions was the big winner with respect to new stuff..
Entire line of percussion rifles.
They will also be available in Kit form (not sure what models).

The 170gr looked to have an aluminum core. They stated 90gr Volume of BH209 gave the best accuracy.

At first look those Traditions military muskets look pretty good. Wonder who's manufacturing them. That '53 Enfield lacks a nipple. Also the hang tag says it is a smoothbore :? ...53 Enfield's were rifled except possibly a few produced for the colonies(India).

At the SHOT and NRA convention, nipples and flints must be removed from ML arms.
Tag is wrong as I looked at the muzzle and noticed 3 wide land/grooves.
Made in Italy, but not by Pedersoli (I asked) - they couldn't recall the name of mfg..

Traditions was very enthusiastic about the 170gr bullet and trajectory. They also spoke of 90gr BH209 being the most accurate. I recall a 50cal (0.490") roundball is 177gr.
So, today I added some data to some previous data. BH209 website data only listed a 180gr.. But, the comparison is interesting - especially the flat trajectory they spoke of.

If you'd read this post, you'd have read the error noted of the tag. Noticed on the website you list that my photos were convenient to the start of your post there, hmmm...

The 1853 might be a EuroArms which if im not mistaken is owned by Pedersoli. ArmiSport made some too at one time. Not sure whatever happened to Armi.

Now those 250gr and 305gr Smackdowns are just rebranded Berry Blue Diamond bullets. NOTHING new about them at all other than calling them by a new name and changing the colors. Berry sells them for about $20/25. Pretty pricey and there is no way in hell the real world BC is even close to .383 for the 305gr.

The Pittman Accumax 325gr is .350 BC and it one of the highest BC 452s around.

GM54, I didn't buy the BC either on the Traditions bullets - I proved long ago there is much BS in BC from bullet makers..
As for the Pittman - glad to see bullet makers finally adding weight to their bullets for LR shooting, mass (weight), is a big factor improving BC.

Pittman also offers a 350gr in the Aeromax line but those are way too long for most twists and sabotless only. They require a 1-18 or faster IIRC and lots of speed. I dont think BH209 would get you there without a faster twist.


Years ago Traditions sold rebranded Parkers. They sold the Ballistic Extremes and the jacketed Hydracons. Never was a big fan of the Hydracon but the BEs were decent bullets. They changed to SSTs after dropping the Parkers. I bought a bunch of their BEs when they were blowing them out.
