Shell question

Hey I went to walmart earlier today and picked up a box of turkey loads for my Mossberg 12 gauge. I got Winchester Double X 5 shot, and it wasn't till after I bought them that I noticed they are copper plated lead shot.

So here is my question. My choke says "Lead shot only" so will the copper plated hurt the choke?????

I just want to make sure I won't hurt me, the gun, or the choke.

I think it's fine, choke would not be able to handle steel shot though. I shoot copper plated lead

Thank you guys. I just wanted to make sure. I've never shot copper plated before, so it's better to ask than to be sorry later.

They are easy to see inside your bird too have a stray one show up in a random spot sometimes

Copper not as hard as steel with result that copper will not expand choke. I have been using them for a number of years with no choke problems.

I just wanted to update and say thank you for all the eased my mind before shooting. I have to say, with the Mossberg choke that came with the 500 Turkey Thug, with these shells it gave me my best pattern by far at 30 yards....at @ 15 yards (yes I know that's strange test but our fence was in the way lol) it blew a hole through the old plywood (dead center) that I staple my targets on...be it that board has been shot now many times, but still lol.

I will also say that is did pack a larger kick that other shells I've tried.

Now if only Mr. Tom will walk in front of me.
