I've been keeping a hunting journal this year for the first time, and it's amazing to read back on what I've been through already since September 1st. This has been the best season of my life, and I haven't fired a shot! I have put myself in positions to pass up deer that are bigger than anything I've killed and learned so much because of it.

Here's where I stand:
Hunts: 37 (AM and PM hunts counted separately)
Hours: 137.5
Deer sightings: Bucks - 18, Does - 41

Anybody else keeping track?

Been keeping a daily journal since back in the early 80's. How great it is to go back and read some of the entries. It also becomes habit forming.

Thanks for posting this - I need to start keeping records like that.

So far this year I have hunted 5 times and approximately 20 hours. Three morning hunts and two evening hunts.

Deer sightings:
0 deer during a morning hunt
0 deer during a morning hunt
1 doe during an evening hunt
1 spike during an evening hunt (10/26)
1 doe w/ two button bucks during a morning hunt (11/3)

Don't know all the dates because I wasn't really keeping track. I do know that on Friday, 10/26 I killed that spike...

2nd outing yesterday gutted my leg by flipping my four wheeler.

I am alive thanks to the man upstairs. My hunting season is very successful

I have been in the woods a total of 4 times, 3 mornings and 1 evening. I have seen 4 does and 1 buck. Killed one of the does (opening day of archery) and the buck (Opening day of muzzleloader).

My daughter has been in the woods four mornings and 1 evening and has killed one deer.
