It looks like from my research that 3M 4200 Marine product is good for sealing screw holes in aluminum hulls. Does anyone here have any real world experience with this stuff. Tips/tricks. Positives or negatives? I need to mount a new transducer on my transom and want to make sure there are no leaks.

Never used 4200, but the 5200 works great. Another thought, I had a piece of aluminum channel welded to my transom just to mount my transducer to, just didn't want any holes in my boat.

4200 is non permanent and can be removed. 5200 is permanent.

i always use a xducer mounting board, 15 bucks, and you can trim to fit. if you are going to use it as a skimmer on plane use 5200. if you are using it up on the transom as an imaging only transducer you can use either 4200 or 5200.

if you are not mounting it over the same holes then aluminum epoxy works well or have the holes tig welded shut. some folks use 5200 and shoot an oversize screw thru the old holes.
