I am in the market for a new scope for my Browning BAR .243. I have not bought a scope in years and need help with today’s optics. Would like to keep it under $400. What would you recommend?

I suggest going and looking at the ones in your price range and look through them and if you have the rings on your rifle set it on it and look through it.

All of the above brands mentioned are great. I think you can get the best glass for your money going with a Vortex. I also like the 3200 and 4200 Bushnells. Bushnell has some newer models out as well.

Leupold.
I'm comparing between only Leupold and Vortex from personal use.
I've got the highest of Vortex and up to the VX6 of Leupold.
Customer service has been no questions for both.
Clarity/Quality goes to Leupold.

Under 400 I would go with American made (by Leupold) Redfield Revolution with Burris XTR scope rings.

Don't fall for the under $100 Zeiss, I ask about them a while back and was told they are fakes from China and to stay away. One poster bought one and wished he didn't, said it was pure junk.
