scope power?

if i sight my gun in at 7 power , will it throw it off if im hunting and adjust it up to 10 power to take a longer shot?
(nikon monarch 3.5x10x50)
 
I always sight mine in at the highest power. Why? Because your long range shots will probably be taken with the scope on that power. I do this even with real high dollar scopes.

I've always done the same and then don't worry about it when shooting at closer distances or lower powers.
