I've been running a 3-9x40 Nikon on my 30/30 Marlin for years. It's pretty thick where I hunt but, when the leaves are off, I can shoot over a hundred yards. I like some extra magnification to pick a spot through the bushes when need be. If I was buying a new scope for it today, it'd be a 3-9x40 Leupold.

I've had a Vortex Diamondback 1.75-5x32 on 2 different Marlin 336s in 35 Rem. One I currently still have and another I stupidly sold to a member on this site. Instantly regretted it, and bought another. I'm really happy with it.

On my Marlin 336 30-30, I have a vintage Redfield wide field Lo-Pro 3-9X. If I had to do it all over, I would choose the same combo.

I have a leupold VX-Hog In 1x4x20 on mine that seems perfect to me.

Those are awesome scopes and seems perfect fit for those.

Works perfect for me. One thing I havent done yet is take the front sight off to clear the field of view up a little bit.
