Just got a Savage 10 smokeless and the combination of smokeless powders, sabots, and bullets is confusing. I realize each gun has it's own preferences, but I wondered what some of you have used and gotten the best results...

Go to Doug's message board there's a ton of info there. Most guys over there are shootin .45's but there is a ton of load data for .50's.
Great group of guys that will share there knowledge.

I had great results with Barnes originals in BCR sabots over 60gns of n120.
Also very accurate was Barnes 300 EXP's with the supplied sabot & 60gns of N-120.

Welcome to the world of smokeless!

short mmp and hornaday 250 .452 with 5744 and for a little more speed n110 will do the trick. you can get a lot of money tie up chasing "the dream load" unless you have a need for a long range load these two will do fine.

Great info..I just want hunting quality groups out to 200 yrds...I don't hunt now where I can see any farther than that...

I'll try some 250's with n110 and 5744 and see what it'll do...let ya know...At least I won't have to wait 20 secs to see the blamed target...

the 250g & n110 works good for me,I will post some speeds when the new chrony comes in when I get a chance to shoot

be sure to use anti seize on breech plug and vent liner after shooting session, you don't want a stuck plug or vent liner and I have always use win 209 primer that was because I had a lot left over from reloading shotshells. you will need to let barrel cool or sabots will start to fail and you will loose accuracy. this will happen quicker in hotter temps. It would be a good ideal to order several vent liner they will burn out "a larger hole thur it". I got tired of smoke, smokeless only way to go.

I picked the N110 due to speed & the amount used per shot, also it isn't as temp sensitive as some of the others needing a booster .I am using 41g with xtp's in 200g 240g & 250g. this is a Fairley mild load & have about 50 shots thru the vent liner with no noticeable wear. I plan to do a lot of testing from july to hunting season. this is a factory load from savage. I also plan on testing some sst's in 250g . also the advice about the barrel temps with sabot is good advice. in very cold weather you can shoot about as quick as you can load but warm weather the barrel needs to cool so take some other guns to the range with you

43gr of IMR 4759 and a Barnes Original 300gr spritzer in a Harvester black crush rib is a easy shooting load good to well over 200 yards. Drop will depend on your zero distance.

Got some IMR 4759 to try. Having trouble finding v 110...apparently a shortage...

Got my scope but waiting on mounts and rings from Midway...Hope to try it next week.

Thanks for the good advice...

There are numerous combos that MAY work in your gun all depending on your barrel, range time is the only way to know for sure. My gun likes 43 grains of IMR SR4759 and 250 grain SSTs with the red sabots that come with them. I have shot MMP sabots as well but noticed no significant advantage thus I have stuck with the Hornady sabots. The majority of my hunting shots are in the woods (less than 100 yards), so that is what I have my gun setup to do. Good luck!

Got to shoot it a few times yesterday at the range...It was impressive...Groups were 1" at 50 yrds first try....Can't wait to try different loads and see if it tightens up...
