Did some research. had no idea Satanism (Church of Satan) actually has nothing to do with worshipping Satan. The role of Satan is just a poke in the eye to Christians. It is basically a belief system based on atheism, self-determination, humanism and hedonism.

Worked with a guy that was a satanist. After my initial shock, he explained in depth exactly as you just described

Satan doesn't care if you worship him or not. As long as you are not worshipping Christ he has fulfilled his goal.
