Dont know much about this other than what I saw on that show a few years ago. I was driving to Pleasantville to see a customer yesterday and noticed several trucks parked on the side of route 7 or 48, not sure. On the hillside next to the road were several folks on hands and knees digging and plucking something from the ground.

Is now the season people hunt this stuff? Just curious, as that was the first thing I thought of.

You can’t find ginseng right now, the plant dies back to the roots in Winter.
