Finally got to do a ladder shake down of my stepsons RPR in .243 Win. I just did 3 shot groups searching out powders, the bullet is the Amax 105 gr.
Right off the bat I can tell it really likes the slower powders. Loaded H4831, IMR4831, IMR4350, RL19 and IMR7828. wanting to try RL22, H1000 maybe some N560. Today the IMR7828 shows promise in the 26" 5R 1:.7 twist.

40 grns. IMR7828 COAL@ 2.775 3 shots

41 grns. IMR7828 COAL@ 2.775 3 shots, gonna tweak this load.

David Tubb has a new tipped version of the 115 DTAC bullet that has a BC of .620 that would be really good in wind from a 7 twist 243,,
that 115 at say 2900 fps would shoot at long range like a 300WM shooting 210`s,,

in my 8 twist 27 inch 243 with 105 class bullets I could not beat H4350,,it shoots really tight and getting right at 3200 fps,,

I could get the speed with 7828 and H1000 and RL26 will go even faster but for consistent accuracy H4350 was the winner in my bbl,,

those loads sound really light and would probably help the vertical stringing if you get closer to max loads,,with 7828 and H1000 I was getting best groups with upwards of 45 grs ,I shoot 41.5 H4350 and the 105 VLD-H orange box Bergers in my 243

is that the Burris Eliminator range finding scope??

Yep, the 105 and 100 grain Noslers were always super accurate with a case full of IMR7828. And this powder is nearly always available.

As an aside, when I stepped down to 95 gr the 7828 fell flat-RL19 became the powder poison it loved.

Got some 115 DTACs and 105 Berger Hybrids coming. Definitely going to pick up some more H4350 and 1000 this weeknd. Just getting the time to shoot is my problem. BTW: I'm kinda warming up to the Burris Eleminator. But it's heavy.

are they selling the new plastic tipped DTAC yet or did you get the old style,,if the new tipped ones pan out an the BC isnt inflated I may get a 7.5 twist bbl and have it chambered in the 6.5x47L case necked down to 6mm,

.620 is a big number for a 6mm bullet,,

That's good info buddy, bc I'll be loading for my daughter's .243 soon, and I have some 4350 and 7828 powders already on the shelf! Just wait till that "winter" blast gets there next week, no wait for the bbl to cool, just fire away! :super:

That barrel do get hot when it's 90 out. I much prefer about a 60 degree day for testing.
