I've put more than 600 rounds through one in .308, and it shoots well. When I had the right wind call, I was able to ring a 12-inch plate about 50% of the time at 1,000 yards. The most of my trigger time with the American was during a long-range hunting school down in Texas. This is Ruger's attempt at building a "Savage Killer," which is a pretty tall order. I've been building long-range guns on Savage actions for a while, which should tell you something.

Buy it. You won't be sorry.

Yep, these are fine shooting rifles. I helped a buddy work a custom load for his Ruger American Rifle .308. He shot a 3 rd 0.75" group at 100 yds using Remington low recoil ammo. After working a tailored load, he got the 3-rd group down to 0.55".

For the price, you will love it!
