This year was tough for me. I didn't get out as much as normal and the first deer I actually took was the wrong deer! I thought he was a 5 year old we called Bull! I was walking in and saw him bumping does 117 yards down the mountain...Took a shot and when I walked up...It was a stranger and young one! The buck I tagged out on , was a 4 year old that I saw at 15 yards the day before on my lease road. I didn't want to take a deer the cheap way so I set up the next morning and took him the correct way. I also lost my best deer in bow Season smh!

Congrats! That 2nd one hurts for sure when managing for older deer. Not as bad as shooting and losing one, but still nags. Been there, done that myself... this year in fact. The 4yo you shot is a very nice buck. But the most important thing is having fun hunting and celebrating each deer you choose to take.

Looks like you done OK to me! :) That speaks well of your sportsmanship that you let a buck go because the situation didn't meet your standards and then went back after him later.
