We got our first turkey today and was extremely excited about it. The tom came in by himself and there may have been others near but we certainly didn't see or hear any.
Does anyone know even if there were others around nearby then would it be a good idea to go back to the same spot next weekend ?
We don't know the scare tactics of turkey after a shotgun blast. Help ???

A shotgun blast is like a clap of thunder to turkeys. If there weren't other birds there that you spooked when you retrieved your bird, then your shot should have not effect.

Something that occassionally happens is where a dominant bird keeps other gobblers silent due to beating up on them when they try to gobble in hens. If you kill the dominant bird, you may find several birds gobbling in subsequent days. Your bird may have been that dominant gobbler.
