A friend of mine and fellow member in my muzzleloading club recently shot a record breaking score at the NMLRA September shoot at Friendship, Indiana! He shot a 50/1x in the Fur-du-Lac-Flintlock match. The last record had been held since 1977!

This course of fire is 1 shot on each of the 50 yard bulls, 2 shots on the 100 yard bull, and 1 shot on the 100 yard half bull. All done offhand with a flintlock rifle

and in pre 1840 period clothing!

Check out his target. That's some fine shootin'.

Congrats! That's some fine shooting.

Distance of the Fur-du-Lac match is shot at?

I looked at the NMLRA rule book and didn't see the distance mentioned…

Previous record holders name?

Great shooting for sure! Congrats again.

Looks like the weather may have cooperated for once….

The distance is 50 yards for the two small bulls and 100 yards for the large bulls. The previous record holders name is Bill Disbro. I don't know what his score was tho.

Thanks for the info Flint. Looks like xxx to me too…

Is that match shot down in the valley past the block house? Where the Seneca Run match is held?
I'm not sure - unfortunately, I've never been. It's my understanding that it's on the primitive range. Match #601.

Maybe Wobbly can fill us in.

That is exactly what I'm talking about…👍

That is an excellent display of marksmanship , not too mention the fact that it was shot with a flintlock rifle, shooting round balls offhand…

Ya' gotta love a flintlock… I just wish I hadn't been so misguided about them in my early years.

I found it. The previous record was 49/3x.

Dave's target looks like 3x's to me.
NMLRA rules score round ball matches center of hole because most all the matches are shot by individuals using different caliber guns. This is to prevent an advantage for someone using a larger caliber. The center spot has to at least touch the line to receive that score. They use overlays to determine the center point. I score it 50-1x.
