There is not enough hunting at PI for any kind of buck regs to matter whatsoever and they are unnecessary.
For sure.
Just totally unnecessary, but doing more harm than good.

Such antler restrictions were possibly marginally more beneficial than harmful the very first year TWRA "managed" President's Island as a public land hunting opportunity. Not now.

But, a single weekend of archery-only hunting annually (in which an antlered deer is legal)?
If that's all the "antlered" hunting that's allowed annually, "either-sex, no antler restrictions" would make more sense, and be more biologically sound?

By the way, most of those mature mainframe 8-pointers are not dying of old age.
They're simply being killed by those hunting the private property bordering PI, even a little bit more or less in the middle of the island. Those hunters are using centerfire rifles for the full TN statewide "gun" deer season, and every buck roaming President's Island is within easy "rut range" of their properties.
