DENVER (CBS4) A popular hunting shotgun could be banned under one of the bills moving through the state Capitol.

A pump or semi-automatic shotgun is the gun most hunters in Colorado use. Its a gun state Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, says could be banned under a bill thats already passed the House and Gov. John Hickenlooper says hell sign.

Theyre coming after the standard shotgun, Brophy told CBS4 Political Specialist Shaun Boyd.

Brophy says if Democrats succeed in passing a bill limiting large capacity magazines in Colorado, theyll outlaw the most popular selling firearm for hunting.

Hundreds of thousands of pheasant hunters are probably going to be carrying around a gun they wont be able to replace after July 1 this year, he said.

Brophy points to a section of the bill that defines a high-capacity magazine as one capable of accepting or that can be readily converted to accept more than 15 rounds or eight shotgun shells.

This is where shotgun shells go inside this tube here, Brophy showed Boyd, You can screw this part off the top and screw on an extender to this tube to allow it to hold more than eight rounds. It is readily convertible, which by definition in the bill, makes the whole thing a high-capacity magazine.

Under the 1994 federal ban manufacturers redesigned the gun so the barrel couldnt be extended. Brophy says its unlikely theyd do the same just for Colorado.

I dont know if anybody is going to make guns specifically for the five million people living in Colorado, he said. We just might not be able to legally purchase a pump shotgun or a semi-automatic shotgun.

Or sell, transfer or even lend one.

The law is specific as of July 1. You can keep it, but only if you maintain continuous possession of it, Brophy said. If it breaks, you cant give to a gunsmith even to fix it. You cant hand it to your son to use. Its all now outlawed because of this 1224, the bill that Gov. Hickenlooper says hes going to sign this is most extreme thing anybodys ever done related to firearms.

Boyd asked Senate Democrats about Brophys concerns. They sent her a statement saying an amendment dealing with thats issue is currently being drafted and will be presented in a committee hearing Monday. What that amendment looks like and whether it passes remains to be seen.

Seven gun bills are up for hearings in the Senate on Monday.

You can read all about the elected Democrats in Colorado trampling on the 2nd Amendment right here:

After an epic debate, Colorado Democrats advanced stricter gun-control measures

I don't feel sorry for Coloradans as a whole. They jumped on the Democrat bandwagon in a big way back in November. Elections have consequences. If you vote Democrat you are part of the problem, and a majority of Colorado voters are now part of the problem. I do feel for the Republicans in that State who actually got out and voted Republican. Too many Californians have moved there over the years. I fear that Colorado has been stained with so much liberalism that it's permanently blue like California.

You will see in the article that Joe Biden has spent a lot of time and effort lobbying the Democrat State representatives in Colorado to support these gun control bills. It is no coincidence that Biden emphasized a "double barrel" shotgun in that recent, ridiculous interview that he gave. If he had his way, pumps and semi-auto shotguns would be history.

Yep and unfortunately for CO and other states libs are like locust. They devour everything and move on to the next fertile ground (i.e. CA to CO).

THIS sort of thing is exactly what has happened to former Conservative, sensible States, that have allowed themselves to be changed by interlopers from other States, who move away from California, New York, wherever, and immediately start trying to change their new location to be more like their old hell hole.

It's happened in Florida, it's happening before our eyes in Colorado, there's even an element here in TN.

The facts are that all of the South, and most of the West, were settled by independent minded people who were getting as far away from the Liberal/Progressive mindsets of their day as they could.

As soon as they get tired of high taxes, low employment, and overall crappy policies where they're at, and move to a more Conservative area, they start bitching about how awful our way of life is.

I agree with the State Senator Hunt in Wyoming when he told the lady, "by all means, leave" when she complained about a state gun bill. Of course, she had recently moved to Wyoming from Virginia. In her letter to the Senator, she noted that she and her husband had just moved to Wyoming and were seriously reconsidering their decision amid the proposed expansion of gun laws.

His response: "By all means, leave."

That's what I say to all the idiots that want to make TN, TX, GA, FL, CO, WY, MT, and many others into their former places of residence that are bastions of Progressive dictatorships.
