Piston or direct impingement AR, which do you have and prefer?

For my uses the GI works fine…hunting, plinking, homeland defense…the piston version would be better for high volume sustained fire I would imagine…run cleaner and cooler…I did have a Ruger piston version for awhile and it was fine too…although a bit heavier

We have both: the piston is on the SPC II rifle which is a 277 caliber.

Strictly from a shooting perspective I believe the piston is a smoother firing weapon despite the much heavier than 223 bullets.
