I posted this in the air gun forum but thought I would add it here. We have a channel on YouTube with all outdoors videos so I just picked one to share.
Yes they are I have a bunch in the freezer. I have a buddy who shot 500 in one trip lol. He eats a lot of them and gives more to someone who has raptors to feed.If they are grain fed, are they good eating?
I think it was Steven Rinella, from Meater, that was taking pigeons in San Francisco.
You can definitely eat pigeon. If you want to sound classy, just call it "squab." Most animals carry some kind of virus/bacteria/parasite but if you handle them properly the risk is negligible.I'm not sure if a human can eat them. They can spread infections and diseases. Anyway, if you already ate them and you are still alive then it's okay.
Funny how that idea is prevalent in the US but go to Europe and pigeons are served in high end restaurants. Pigeons (domestic rock doves) are in the same family as mourning doves which people eat without a thought. if someone doesn't care for the taste I understand but they are eaten every day and have been for centuries .I'm not sure if a human can eat them. They can spread infections and diseases. Anyway, if you already ate them and you are still alive then it's okay.
