If a family from out of state comes to hunt TN and the dad wants to take his two boys who are 14 hunting what is needed? Does dad still need a license? Cost for each child?

The youths will have to be Hunter Safety certified. If they aren't, they will need the Apprentice License ($11.00) and have an adult over the age of 21 who meets hunter safety requirements where he/she can take immediate control of the hunting weapon.

They will need the Junior All Game license (type 085-$25 or 086-$40)

If they want to participate in the Special Season Antlerless hunts, they will need a type 94 permit ($21).

If the father does not participate in the hunt in any way, he does not need to be licensed. The non-participation means no calling, carrying equipment, etc. Help after the kill in field dressing and recovering the deer is OK.

A social security number will be needed for each youth for the intial creation of the TWRA profile when they purchase their license. Once they have a TWRA ID number, they will be able to check their deer out online or on the mobiel phone app (or go to a physical deer check station).
