Consider yourselves lucky to have such good friends. I've had some friends but a lot come and go. I'd say the longest is 11 years and we really weren't that good of friends til 3 or 4 years ago.

It's nice to have lifelong friendships. There are many that I have been close to since childhood and others that I have met later in life and have stayed very close to. Several close friends I met here. :)

I met my best friend and the guy we moved to TN to be near in 1991, right after I got back from the first Gulf war and they sent me to Germany. He was the one that picked me up and helped me carry my bags from the S-1 office.

Just had this thought pop in my head earlier today.

Just wondering how long you have known your best friend.

What is the longest time you have known someone and still see them on a regular basis?

I met my oldest friend when I was 3.
We still see each other and throw a few back at least once or twice a month.

Guess we been hangin out 42 years.

I met my best friend right before we started kindergarten. His parents were building a house across the street from where I grew up, and we were inseparable after that. He moved away right before we started 5th grade, but we stayed in touch. It's been over 27 years since we first met, but we're still close. I was in his wedding, and he would've been my best man had he not been in pre-deployment training. Whoever dies first will be carried to the funeral by the other.

My best guy friends outside of family are short-timers (3 years tops), although I have found a few good ones lately.

I still consider my dad and my brother to be my best friends. They are "first choice" company. By that, I mean that whenever one is calling the other about plans, we always drop what we are doing to be with the other, because they are our first choice. The way I see it is that people in general will come and go based on life circumstances, but that's not true about family.

On top of that, I married a girl 9 years ago that's a hoot to be around, and we're still crazy about each other. She's not my hunting buddy, but she'll go wade a trout stream with me sometimes. She's truly my "best" friend, but it's funny how our answers change sometimes based on whether we are talking about a particular activity or something :)

I went to the same school from Kindergarten - 12th grade.

My best from from that school moved to our town in Jr High. We've been friends ever since.. about 20 years. We still hunt together and I talk to him more than any of my other friends.

My other "real" friends are from college. Somebody told me a long time ago that the friends you make in college will be your real friends for life. He was right. They're the ones I know I can call whenever I need anything. I miss them.

Funny about college friends......we've drifted apart from all ours. We were inseparable back then, but after some grownup time apart, we see how cliquish they all were. We backed away and haven't really missed them.

Strangely enough, I've hooked back up with an old friend from elementary school, and our families have become much better friends in less than a year than any of our old college buddies were.

Been thinking about this a couple of days.My best friend pasted away this year.Told the story on here of how I gave him a place to stay and he took my guns and disapeared. Even after all of this I still think hes the best friend I've ever had. Demons can make you do some bad stuff. Looking back now I'm glad the guns weren't in his truck when they found it, even though it was my fathers gun looking at it would have reminded me of the worst in him and not the best. I still miss him.

My best friend flew in last night from a hunting trip out west. He had to drive from Nashville up to Virginia in the middle of the night. He went the complete opposite direction to come hang out for an hour with me last night. He was my best man in my wedding 11 years ago. Met him in 2002 in college, so around 21 years. Love him to death. He'd do anything for me, and I'd do the same for him. Wish we lived closer

3 guys from FL that we all went to work for GE Nuclear in 1979, 44 years. We're going to NE Sandhills hunting in Nov. Lost track of how many hunting & fishing trips we've taken but literally from FL to AK a couple times.

Well since they dug it up:

My best friend actually came over yesterday afternoon.
He is on third shift now but used a vacation day for last night.
We sat on the deck, had a cold drink or 12 and carried on business as usual.

We are at 52 years now. :D

Best friend is my wife! Sixty three years of marriage last June. I knew twins from first grade until last 3/4 years when they both died. Another close friend I also went to school with died last month. Still have friends in W TN I've known for for 75 years. And a very close friend I've only known for approx 30 years in W TN. Of course an OF like me has a lot of years to "draw" on!
