Even the smaller "auto diesel" nozzles will not fit in a gasoline tank. Someone would have had to put the wrong nozzle on for that to happen.
I have been told by a few reputable mechanics about them having to deal with diesel getting into the tanks of gas cars. I have seen several diesel nozzles over the years that would fit in a gas filler spout. Like I said, it happens.

At one time in my life, I worked for a petroleum company. One of the tanker drivers had a brain fart and decided to run his deliveries in a different order than he was loaded for....what he had on his papers. His screw up put about 1000g of 87 in the diesel tank...at an interstate location. Trucks sitting all along the shoulder of interstate. Don't remember how many diesel engines he ended up buying....but it was a bunch.. 😂

Just courtesy, definitely no rules or laws. Many people aren’t going to be courteous to others, but are we surprised?

Down here if you drive a gas burner you probably have a coexist sticker, skinny jeans, and wear a mask even when you’re alone.

To each their own.

One time several years ago my dad pulled into some place to put gas in his Tundra. He couldn’t figure out why the nozzle wouldn’t go in his tank so he sat there and aimed it and proceeded to fill up with diesel. Still clueless he started to pull off and truck began making a noise or something. It was then he finally figured out what happened. Had it towed and cost him $750-1000 to drain tank and clean it out of the lines or whatever else they did. 🤣

As far as getting gas at the diesel pumps I wish they would put the diesel pumps by themselves so this couldn’t happen. When there are 10+ pumps and only the 2 at the end have diesel it sucks to pull up and most if not all are empty and a small car tying up the diesel pump. Yes all others could’ve been occupied when they got there but I doubt they all pulled off in the amount of time it took them to pump 12 gallons.

True. If the correct nozzle is installed, you can't put diesel in a gas burner, but you can put gas in a diesel burner
Local station that I have stopped at for years & is still full service got me good last Sept. It was our big work day & had trailer behind truck with 4 barrels of water & 4-5 empty gas cans. Older gentleman was new attendant and I told him to fill truck (big boy diesel) & to fill jugs with non ethanol. I had some other jugs for tractor fuel & carried them around back to fill with farm diesel. Several minutes later one of guys I know comes up & says " we have a problem", ugh.... The new guy had pumped 20+ gallons on non ethanol into my truck! This is about 6:00 on Sat morning so knew nothing was gonna get fixed over weekend. Saw another one of our guys drive by without trailer so called him & we put my trailer behind his truck. Station told me that they had a roll back on way to take truck to whatever shop I wanted. Made those arrangements and one of the attendants took me home to get another vehicle. They called me the next week to check on truck & told me to bring it back by & they'd fill it up. They went out of their way to make it right. The guy who did it got so sick at his stomach that he had to go home. Was worried that he was going to lose his new job. He's still there and I have a big time with him each time I stop!

Coop is the only local station I am aware of that has diesel pumps(or ummm dispensers🙄) separate from the gas pumps.

That jogs another memory. My brother pulled into the co-op one time with a trailer full of mowers. He proceeded to fill the truck up. Went inside and told them he needed to pay for his diesel and they said you got gas. They thought he was filling his mowers up. They pulled it over to a bay and drained everything so he had to pay for around 30 gallons of gas and not use it. 😂
