Odd deer sightings lately.....

Been seeing deer in the middle of the day,way out in the middle of fields,in all this heat,seems weird to me.anyone else seeing this lately?

Lack of pressure and does getting away from their fawns seems to be the norm here. Am seeing a few bucks also doing this.

I think sometimes they'll spend more time in fields because the breeze helps keep the insects at bay. I guess they'd rather just be hot and miserable as opposed to hot, miserable AND bugged to death.

Yep. I remember it being asked every year too! I agree with the answer of insect.. Especially after having a job working in the woods this summer. Nothing is worse than being swarmed by hundreds of deer and horse flies for seceral hours straight.

I've seen two good ones in the last two days. The one yesterday was huge

I have seen so many that it has made me say " man the deer are everywhere this year" first time ive notice

My brother took a pic of a nice KY buck yesterday mid day bedded by the boat ramp. The week before got a nice 10 point mid day.

I have seen deer everyday on my mid-day runs. usually around 1 pm. the bean fields are loaded with them. I would say because we haven't been very hot yet.

Had 2 yesterday in field behind house at 10:45 am & then 1 more at 1:00 pm.

strangely, the overwhelming majority of the deer I have midday have been buck. maybe the does are hunkered down with fawns?

What others have said. Deer prefer the hot open areas mid-day versus the woods due to insects.

Saw two different mama's with fawns in the broad daylight of heat this afternoon as a matter of fact......a little fawn ran right by me at 5yds distance.....I could have tackled it!!!! within the same hour I saw another on the side of the road with its mama...........got a rough pic of it as it was running off!!! you can see its tail and ears! looked to be only about 3 weeks old.
