I have several young Oak trees that I want to move. Would it be best to plant them in groups or in a straight line around my plots? When is the best time to.move them? How.far apart do I.plant them? Also what needs to be done as.far as.care for their survial during.and after this process?

I have never transplanted a growing tree that worked. Died every time, I killed a bunch of them.

I know the best time is dead of winter or so folks say.

I believe you are suppose to prep for the move by trimming the tree once it is dormant.

The very fine roots seem to tear off really easy and you lose too many of them it seems like the tree is doomed. You need a mechanical device to do it right, one of those commercial things.
