Decided to give the Ruger Precision a try. Topped it with an Athlon 6-24x50 - heard good things about both. its a little heavy so I don't know how often it'll make it to the woods - but I'll have to get to the range to see if its a keeper. Anyone have any experience with this rifle or the Athlon scope?

Sweet looking setup. From what I've read it should shoot as good as it looks. I've not had any dealings with Athlon scopes but a guy I work with swears by em. All his rifles are topped off with then

I was at the range this fall and noticed someone with one as we were both at the 300 yd line.
Nice rifles..

Was that the day you were shooting the tikka?

Very nice gun! Was looking at one in 6.5 cm

Like to hear more about the scope. You gonna twist the turrets?

if your gonna shoot a 20" 308 much past 300 yards you will have to learn your dope and how twist the knobs

Way to state the obvious. You think I'm some sort of mind reader and know how far he is gonna shoot this rifle?

Why does the 20" barrel limit holdover with the reticle to 300yds compared to a 24" barrel? Looks like there is around 80 fps drop between a 24" and 20" - will that drop you out of holdover at 300?
