I hear ya, fortunately I have a arrow retriever (9 yr old son) so when I practice I try to do it from my saddle.

Ok, so this is just a mock up but think it will probably be the route I take to abandon the adjustment straps between the two panels. Going to leave the straps attached for now, but opened all the way. Also took the leg straps off, less to mess with putting it on and frees up the bottom panel for the walk in. Kydex clip came in from EWO this evening so had time to play before Mexican night.
Now by putting a loop through the leg strap attachment point on bottom panel, I can fold the bottom panel up and shed 6 more inches. This seems to really condense the saddle for the walk in. Supposedly that is, but I believe it should work.

Sub 5lbs is good, I think you're on your way to wondering why you didn't swap sooner to a saddle. Those new 2 panels look nice. I'm trying to resist the urge of trying one out
