From what I can gather, cva is coming out with a few .40 caliber options in their muzzleloader series of rifles. One is an Accura version. The other is a Paramount style version. They also developed a 225 gr, .40 caliber version of the Powerbelt ELR that the rifles can utilize. It'll be interesting to see how they perform with the advertised 1:20 twist rate. It should work well with the 225 gr ELR but I'm curious how it'll handle heavier, longer .40 caliber bullets. Also curious what size charge they used to get that kind of velocity from a non-smokeless.

CVA pulled the plug on the MR/LR-X 40s. They are now listed only in a 45cal 1-22 and a 50cal 1-28. New max load data has also been listed and they wont be getting the 2800fps they had originally claimed for the Paramount.

My accura LR is a 45 caliber, 30" barrel. 110 gr blackhorn by volume. typing error, 285 gr elr bullet.

Any questions, call Tony Smotherman, he is who helps me out. I promise he knows more than you.

I have 2 accura v2 in 45 with the shorter barrel, both shoot a 195 gr barnes in a smooth blue sabot right at 2300 fps with 110 gr blackhorn by volume.

I can only guess the ELR bullet has less drag than the sabot and the longer barrel helps with the velocity.

A 280gr what exactly because i have never seen a Accura LR in 45cal yet. That is some amazing speed for a 50cal unless you are talking about 110gr by weight which is a huge over load for that rifle. I get a little over 2100fps in a 45cal sabotless with 120gr by volume in a 27" barrel. I cant imagine how you are getting almost 2300fps in a 50cal without exceeding the powder max.

120gr by volume or 84gr by weight (roughly) is the max BH209 load in all Accuras at this time.
The accura v2 long range in 45 has been around since early last fall for sure if not longer.

Ok and how are you getting almost 2300fps? By using 110gr by weight because i dont see that happening with 110gr by volume. Ive shot TONS of sabotless 45cal loads and no way i can imagine is 110gr by volume going to gain that much speed from a barrel only 3" longer than mine.

Ive shot those loads in 2 fast twist Knight 45 1-20s and a Savage Pacnor 45 1-22. 3" extra will get you another 60fps at most. 110gr by volume gives me almost exactly 2100fps with a 275gr.

Uh, by loading my muzzleloader and shooting over the magneto chronograph to how fast it is going.
Really, pretty simple.

I have not tired 120 gr by volume, but I will. As fast it is with 110 of blackhorn over the magneto chronorgraph and as accurate as it is, I don't need anymore. Shoots 1/2" at 100 yards and the 195 gr barnes with the sabot shoot in almost the same hole. I have not shot 195 gr barnes out of the 30" barrel, I will.

Below they are about 100 fps slower, not sure why the difference. Tony Smotherman told me he was getting 2300 fps out of his with 110 gr of blackhorn. I never got 2300 but got close over my chronograph.

Longest I have shot at range is 250 yards and I stood clay pigeons at that distance and broke them every shot. Well, once I knew where to hold.

here you go, 110 gr blackhorn by volume. Not sure why a little slower but still pushing the 285 gr bullet along just fine. Loaded from speedloaders, slowest speed lost a bit of powder loading.
