The Abu Garcia Black Max that I have is amazing.
which models did you get?I have two of the Piscifuns Bait Casters. I haven't used them a lot yet, but so far they are doing great.
I sold all my high dollar bait casters when I sold my boat a few years ago. So far the Piscifuns are performing just as well as the high dollar stuff. When I abuse them for a couple of seasons I might have a different opinion.
My son loves the Black Max, Pro Max, and even the Silver Max, and they are pretty cheap. The Abu Garcia Black Max that I have is amazing.
Thanks. I will go oil them.shimano slx or diawa fuego ct.
been aiming to try some of the piscifuns. i cant believe they are built as good as they say they are. maybe they give the workers an extra fish head with their beating.
tell you a little secret about most of the kastkings. most of the time they ship out without any bearing lube. why i dont know.
I agree. I prefer these over the Lew's Speed Spool.Shimano slx is a great reel. My local sporting goods store has them for $99.
I had to wait until I got home and looked at them.which models did you get?
Those were once my "go to" reels.Ambassadors 4600s were the last i bought and that has been awhile
I lubed all of the KK's before using (all reels actually) and their bearings (and drags) are crap.I suspected that's what happened with mine.
Lews baitcasters junk? Which models? The newer Lews are junk. The bearings and gears will go out of them...if not, then the level wind will. I'm a big Daiwa fan. I've not had any trouble out of their reels, baitcasting or spinning.
Speed Spool series and Crush series both. My dad went all out and bought about 6 of the Speed Spool series at one time. Only one of those is still functional. I have had 2 of them do the same thing as his....gears strip and the handle doesn't engage the spool any more. I also have one of the Tournament Pro series that has lasted the longest (about 3 yrs) and it is now sounding like the bearings are bad. The Crush series had the level wind part break off. Dad said "well, now we know why they were just $99". By comparison to how great dad takes care of his stuff, he still has his original 4 of the Shimano Curado Bantam 200s...the green ones that everybody likes. Still in use today and those things have to be at least 25 years old. He fishes about 4 days out of the week, every week. He's now transitioned to Daiwa Tatula reels and seems to like them.Lews baitcasters junk? Which models?
Interesting. I’ll let you know how mine hold up. I have probably 10 various models. From high end to 99 dollar ones. Lots of pros use them.Speed Spool series and Crush series both. korea, china, maladia and thailand and some of these brands use the same parts as say the diawas.Interesting. I’ll let you know how mine hold up. I have probably 10 various models. From high end to 99 dollar ones. Lots of pros use them.
I think one company makes most of brands in Korea so the big names are probably all about them same.
Either way they all have to be maintained or they will fail. When I am on the water 8 hours or more I cast close to a thousand times in one day. That will wear out a unlubed bearing or gear in a heartbeat.
My oldest reel is a Revo SX and has held up well in 10 years.
You get what you pay for.
I agree 100% on Daiwa reels. Tatula SV TW is the best bait caster I ever used. Got 4 of them. Cast light lures and not even think about a backlash. Well worth the money. The newer Lews are junk. I just received a bass pro sale paper. Abu Garcia revo x is on sale for $69.97 . You will not get a better reel for this price.I need to replace 2-3 worn out baitcasters. What’s the best value these days for around 100.00 or less?
