Hello, getting close to retirement time and I am looking to relocate to Tennessee. My wife and I are looking to purchase ten acres or more with a house or trailer, to live on and we would like to be able to hunt deer and turkeys, as well as small game and predators. We were wondering what counties in middle Tennessee would provide us the best opportunities to harvest nice animals and have a nice little farm for a couple of horses, chickens and some great ATV adventures. Not to mention beautiful sunsets to enjoy while sitting with each other on the porch and small town hospitality. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We were a little interested in Stewart County.

I am relatively new to Maury County, south of Nashville, and it is beautiful. Plenty of public and agricultural land, and the equestrian community is strong. Giles and Lincoln are great deer hunting counties as well. Land prices will be pretty good for quality dirt.

well, you can pick most counties east of the TN River going all the way east or even North East, Lots of hunting for most anything you want. Price is another thing but you get what you pay for
Lots of areas with rivers close and lakes close as well as WMA hunting areas

What nimrod said.... Maury county is nice and I'd love to live there, I hunt there often. Hickman co is also nice, and land is cheaper. Williamson co is very nice but also expensive.

About every county in this state I have been in has it's own beauty. Pretty sure almost everyone on here is gonna picka round there own county, like me, cause I say in or around Jackson County.

Increasing number of deer (with many doe for sure), Running wild with turkeys (other than when I'm hunting for them lol), many rabbits and squirrels, few bobcats with more yotes, and full of river and creeks to fish in as well. Small schools and nice people and a whole lot of undeveloped land (woods, hills, waterfalls) makes it even better. Also, home to the newest State Park in TN---Cummins Falls State Park.

First off, welcome aboard.

Not sure sure what part of TN you're thinking about.
Nimrod was right on with Maury County.
Might want to look at Sumner County too. Old Hickory Lake etc.

Further outside of Nashville you go the cheaper things get.
Not sure what the case is in East & West TN.
Good luck.

Welcome. Now I'm not too familiar with areas too far west of Nashville. But my picks for what you want would be Lincoln, Meigs, Cumberland, and I'd throw in Giles and Maury too. You can forget Williamson..its nice but just way too expensive.

Thanks everyone for the input. Yeah I am a civil servant so price is a biggie for certain. We love Nashville but don't want city life at all, just visit. My mom, son and an army of other relatives live in Kingston, Knoxville area but, I don't want to be too close (ifin you know what I mean). I certainly like those counties you guys have mentioned and will try to find a realtor that not only knows homes but a little about hunting too. My wife and I are very excited about this and hope to purchase soon.

Thanks again!!
